Besides swimming and doing an hour on the elliptical trainer, using the fitness rowing machine is the absolute best workout you can give your body. Spending a half an hour on the fitness rowing machine is the equivalent to spending an hour to an hour and a half workout that uses the other machines in the gym. The reason that rowing is such a fantastic workout is because it works out your entire body. The fitness rowing machine works all of the major muscle groups and gets your heart rate pumping as it works your cardiovascular system. When you use a fitness rowing machine there is a definite series of motions that happens. These motions all blend into each other though, and after a while it will feel like one single fluid motion that you repeat. When you first sit down on the fitness rowing machine you will want to make sure that the foot straps meet your feet. If they don’t, then they need to be adjusted. To make sure that they are adjusted correctly, you need to make sure that your heels are resting on the foot pedals comfortably and that the foot strap is fastened securely. If you haven’t ever used the fitness rowing machine before, make sure the machine is set at the lowest settings. You don’t want to strain your muscles by trying to row at a higher setting than you are ready for. Make sure your grip is firm and that it isn’t too tight (you don’t want your hands to be strained). How you grip is up to you. Underhanded and Over handed grips work equally well. Once you are comfortable in the machine and know that it is set correctly you are ready to row! The first step is the catch. The catch refers to you move forward to bring your knees up close to your body. The next step is called power stroke. The power stroke refers to what happens when you push on the foot pedals and straighten out your legs while bringing your hands toward you. It is important that you exhale during the power stroke. The last step of rowing is called the recovery and this is when you extend your arms, and bend your knees to move your body forward. Keep in mind that technique is what matters most on the fitness rowing machine. During your workout you will want to let your hips and leg muscles do most of the work. By repeating these three simple motions on the fitness rowing machine you will build muscle mass, and burn up to eight hundred calories per workout. The fitness rowing machine also helps your body shed weight faster because the more muscle mass you have, the better your body will process the food you eat. You will find yourself with more energy and endurance than you’ve ever had. Who knew a single fitness rowing machine could help you accomplish so many goals? |
